The Lemonade Stand is Open!

We seek balance. We want to eat the most flavorful food, listen to live music, travel to places of origin, see art in person, enjoy the comfort and style of well-made clothing, both casual and fancy when we’re headed out. We want to gather around a big table, or a quiet late night firepit and soak up really good company in friends and family. And, of course, we want whatever is in our glass to be completely delicious…and, perhaps more. We aim to match our wine to our food, and relate our wine to our evening. On a special occasion we often look to treat ourselves, and perhaps others, to something more special…and maybe more expensive? On nights when we revel in our routine, we hope to indulge in more common bottles that still reflect all of the specificity but are luxurious because they aren’t exclusive or unattainable or particularly extravagant and instead, our table wine.

How do we do it? How do we find balance and soak up every last bit of a curated Summer without getting too caught up in the planning, too precious about the recipe, too wound in the logistics? Said more simply, how do we host the barbeque dinner party and actually relax instead of worrying about overcooking this, or serving the wrong that?

I confess, Allie and I are guilty of this struggle, too. But, if I’ve learned anything over the past three years, I’ve learned that we’re pretty good at all of this if we take an extra moment on the front end to look out at the evening, and, while looking at each other remembering that even if the grill gets too hot or it rains, or the wine wasn’t quite right, all that we were really looking for is already here in the room no matter what the music, décor, flavors, or any of it. That’s what Summer is all about.

Relax, lean in, light the grill. You’ve got this.
