description

100% Chenin Blanc. On 6.2 hectares of land in Montlouis-sur-Loire, Ludovic is making pure, mineral-driven Chenin and Sauvignon of crystalline clarity. After a stage with Vouvray maverick Vincent Carême, Ludovic started his own winery in 2008. He is certified organic and the wines see little intervention, no added yeasts and no fining so as to best express the clay and perruche soils from which they inspire.  Few producers sum up the quiet innovation and imagination encapsulated in the Montlouis sur Loire AOC as the young Ludovic Chanson, who is currently crafting gorgeous, interesting, and delicious renderings of both Chenin and Sauvignon. Always with a passion for wine, Chanson left his job in pharmaceutical research in 2007 and went to work for the renown Vouvray producer Vincent Carême, where he staged for one year. In 2008 he took over a 6.5 ha property in Montlouis, a small AOC that sits on the left bank of the Loire River opposite Vouvray, just east of the city of Tours. It had been organically farmed since 2006 and is at this date Certified Organic. The property is primarily planted to Chenin Blanc, however there are also small plots of both Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

PAIR WITH TAKEOUT...CHINESE OR SUSHI.  OR...A NICE SPICY CURRY.
