Benromach Cask Strength (Distilled 2007 "Batch 1" Bottled 2018)
There is a lot to love about this whisky, from Benromach’s decision to use quality first-fill casks to bottling it at cask strength and even providing distillation and bottling dates. But best of all was their decision to mark it a reasonable price which makes this a great deal considering how delicious the whisky inside the bottle is.
Nose: A rich and pleasant nose that begins with a hint of smoke and sticky honey notes followed by an abundance of assorted fruits and hard lemon candies.
Palate: Oily and full-bodied, each sip has burnt oak, old leather and brown sugar. The fruits from the nose evolve into cooked orchard fruits sprinkled with baking spices
Finish: Long and warming with vanilla and caramel sweetness. There are hints of smoke that return along with an earthy, farm-soil mustiness mingled with old leather gloves. The finish lingers with rich, toasted cereal grains and a dash of salt.
