La Miraja Grignolino d’Asti DOC, 2021

This wine is 100% Grignolino, a rare varietal tough to find outside Piedmont. It has a light garnet color so pale it could almost be mistaken for a Rosé. Its profile is light, bright, and acidic. Expect aroma of red fruit, particularly under ripe cherry and cranberry. Despite its light body, this wine has a surprising amount of tannin.  That makes this Grignolino delicate yet well structured. It’s a delicious wine for spring meat dishes, and should be the perfect stand-in for Burgundy lovers looking for an Italian alternative.  Serve lightly chilled.
