description

"Because this wine is declassified to Vino Rosso, it cannot list the variety or vintage outright on the label. For many years the Mayrs got away with intentionally misspelling the grape as Tyroldego, but eventually got caught, hence the "Ty......." on the current labels. Despite not being legally allowed to print it on the label, the vintage is indicated as a lot number in fine print. This is the first Teroldego Jules Dressner ever drank and thus thought it was spelled Tyroldego. He (I) sounded like a total fool on his first Foradori visit.

Fermentation with native yeasts and up to 30% whole-clusters; maceration lasts several weeks. Unlike Nusserhof's other reds, the Teroldego is aged in used Burgundian barriques instead of botti, but for a similar length as the others: at least 2.5 years in wood followed by years in bottle. A small amount of S02 is added roughly six months after fermentations are finished and at bottling."
