Virgen del Galir "Pagos del Galir" Mencía Valdeorras, 2017

Grapes used for Pagos del Galir Mencia are a selection from our vineyards in Entoma, Soutiño Novo y Valemioto . Soils in these high altitude vineyards with a 30% of inclination are mostly slate.

Manual harvest in 15 kgs cases. Cold maceration of the grapes in scale fridges and of the must 48 hours before alcoholic fermentation. Destemmed but not pressed in order to preserve the primary aromas. Fermentation with autochthonous yeast.  8 months barrel aging in French and American oak, followed by 6 months in the bottle prior to release.

Intense color. Concentration of red fruits on the nose with highlights of blackcurrants. It evolves to spicy, fresh and balsamic aromas. In the mouth is balanced with intense tannins. Fresh, intense and balsamic.
