Bordeaux Blends

Bordeaux blends, also known as Bordeaux-style blends, are red wines crafted from a combination of grape varieties traditionally grown in the Bordeaux region of France, but popular in growing regions all over the world.

The primary grape varieties used in Bordeaux blends are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. These blends vary in composition depending on the winemaker's preference and the specific terroir of the vineyard. Cabernet Sauvignon typically provides structure, tannins, and black fruit flavors, while Merlot contributes richness, roundness, and red fruit flavors. Cabernet Franc adds herbal and floral notes, Petit Verdot enhances color and adds complexity, and Malbec contributes to the blend's body and fruitiness.

Bordeaux Blends typically pair well with any food that you'd have with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, such as red meats, heavy pasta dishes, and even hearty stews.
