Le Piane 'Maggiorina' Vino Rosso Boca, 2022

This wine is made of 40% Nebbiolo, 40% Croatina, 5% Vespolina, and a mix of 9 different local varietals, including some white grapes. This is a true field blend representative of a centuries old system of vine cultivation called Maggiorina. Three vines are spread out at 4 points making a square, and aid in disease prevention and pruning efficiency. The grapes are harvested from old Maggiorina vineyards, and were planted in 1910-20. The wine is cofermented and aged in stainless steel for a year, making a bright, fresh, and easy drinking wine. It is minerally, with a hint of spice to tie in some wonderful fresh wild berry fruit. We would pair it with a fresh pesto pasta with garden veggies and grilled chicken.
