Charles Joguet Chinon 'Cuvée Terroir' 2022 is a classic Loire Valley Cabernet Franc, offering vibrant aromas of fresh raspberry, red cherry, and wild strawberry, accented by violets, green herbs, cracked pepper, and earthy graphite. The medium-bodied palate is lively and refreshing, with juicy red fruit, subtle mineral notes, fine-grained tannins, and bright acidity leading to a clean, savory finish. Elegant yet approachable, this food-friendly red captures the fresh, rustic charm of Chinon. Founded in 1957 by Charles Joguet, Domaine Charles Joguet is a benchmark producer in Chinon, in France’s Loire Valley. An artist by training, Joguet brought a creative, pioneering approach to winemaking, becoming one of the region’s early champions of expressing individual vineyard sites through distinct, terroir-driven cuvées. The estate passed to the Genet family in 1985, and today winemaker Kevin Fontaine continues that tradition, emphasizing precision, freshness, and the character of Cabernet Franc. The domaine farms approximately 35 hectares of organically certified vineyards, with plantings of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc across varied soils, from sandy gravel to clay-limestone. Certified organic since 2016, Charles Joguet remains one of Chinon’s most respected estates, celebrated for wines that balance Loire Valley freshness with earthy complexity and a clear sense of place.
