This wine is 100% Nebbiolo from the Gattinara sub region of the Alto Piemonte. Just a short drive from the more famous DOCG's of Barolo and Barbaresco, the Alto Piemonte provides some bombshell Nebbiolo's with age for a more friendly price. The Vallana Gattinara is chalk full of cherries, dried flowers and even a touch of balsamic. Have it with a whole roast chicken and potatoes or sausage and peppers.

100% Nebbiolo from Vallana’s high altitude vines which are original clones that predate the appellation itself
Hand harvested
The crushed fruit undergoes a 24-hour cold soak before being transferred to cement tanks
As with their other cru wines, each vessel is treated as a separate entity before the final blending process
The blend is transferred to large cask (5 to 12 HL) where it ages for two years
50 cases produced annually
