This wine is made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 12% Petit Verdot. Made by Ntsiki Biyela, South Africa's first black woman winemaker. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak (15% new) for 16 months, before bottling at the beginning of 2023. The wine showcases classic black jammy fruit, layers of green bell pepper, dried herbs, and vanilla, expected from this type of blend and winemaking. It is built to enjoy seamlessly with perfectly cooked red meats and sweet-savory sauces, and pair amazingly with a French dip and a fresh cup of jus.

In 2016, she established Aslina Wines, inspired by the strength and determination of the biggest influence in her life, her grandmother.

Today Aslina is renowned for its range of premium wines and is the realisation of Ntsiki’s dream to create an exceptional world-class brand.

[Umsasane] is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Umsasane is the Zulu word for umbrella tree, which gives shelter, protection and comfort. It was Ntsiki’s grandmother’s nickname and the bold structure, smoothness and complexity of this wine honour the characteristics of Aslina, the matriarch of the family.
