A curious and lovely blend of Campanian native grapes: Pallagrello Nero, Casavecchia, Aglianico, and Rotondella, this easy drinking Country Wine is rare and delicious. The wine presents an intriguing mix of lightly spiced juniper, ripe black currant, and cherry fruit. The integration of these flavors is complemented by the presence of approachable yet prominent tannins, which provide a solid structure. The wine’s refreshing acidity adds to its balance, providing a bright, clean finish. While it is crafted with a medium weight, the Kajanero’s stainless steel treatment keeps it vibrant, showcasing a clear southern Italian personality with subtle oak influence from its five months of aging in large barrels. The Kajanero name, meaning "the dark wine from Caiazzo," is a fitting tribute to its origins in the town of Caiazzo, offering a wine that is both expressive and easily accessible. This wine would pair beautifully with roasted meats, hearty pastas, or a selection of aged cheeses.

From our Importer: Kajanero Rosso Terre del Volturno Vestini Campagnano is the result of a skilfull blend of native Campanian grapes: Pallagrello Nero, Casavecchia, Aglianico and Rotondella, grown on the Caiatine Hills in the province of Caserta in the San Giovanni e Paolo estate. The wine ages for 5 months in large oak barrels followed by a month in bottle prior to release.

Lightly spiced juniper notes, black currant and cherry fruit intertwine with prominent yet approachable tannins and a backbone of acidity. Kajanero means ‘the dark wine from Caiazzo’, the town where these grapes are grown, creating a predominantly stainless steel-treated, medium-weight, red wine of clear southern Italian character.
