100% Riesling. A vibrant, slate-driven Mosel Riesling that balances delicate residual sweetness with racy acidity and remarkable precision. Aromas of white peach, lime blossom, green apple, and Meyer lemon are layered with hints of fresh herbs and wet slate, while the palate is light-bodied yet intensely focused, delivering juicy orchard fruit, citrus zest, and a crystalline mineral finish. The feinherb style keeps the wine refreshing and versatile, with sweetness that enhances rather than dominates, making it an elegant, highly drinkable expression of the Mosel. These characteristics are typical of top Mosel Kabinett feinherb wines, where bright acidity and mineral tension define the style. Ideal with fresh oysters, shrimp ceviche, sushi and sashimi, pan-seared trout, or grilled prawns. Its vibrant acidity and touch of sweetness also make it an excellent match for spicy Thai or Vietnamese dishes, pork schnitzel with lemon, roast chicken, or soft-ripened cheeses such as Brie and Camembert. From our Importer: The “Weihwasser” (“Holy Water”) Riesling Feinherb reflects Dr. Ulrich “Ulli” Stein’s deep commitment to preserving the Mosel’s historic, precipitous slate vineyards. Sourced from 50- to 60-year-old vines in the St. Aldegunder Klosterkammer vineyard near the old church in Alf, the wine is hand-harvested and fermented with a light-touch philosophy that emphasizes site over winemaking intervention. Stein has long championed forgotten, labor-intensive vineyard sites and traditional Mosel viticulture, believing that finesse, energy, and minerality are more important than power or richness. “Weihwasser” is named for its proximity to the church and is crafted in a classic old-school feinherb style—low in alcohol, delicately off-dry, intensely drinkable, and a pure expression of the steep blue slate terroir that defines the lower Mosel.
