Details

From the Producer: This is the first of a series exploring the terroirs of North American ciders. We named this venture “Revival Cider Co,” as an homage to our American ancestry.

We seek to create an affordable and recognizeable choice of honest ciders: ciders made with no concentrates, no filtering, no back sweetening, only wild yeast ferments. We aim to shine a light on passionate cidermakers who look to showcase the unioquness of their terroir.

The 2020 Revival Cider from Old Mission Peninsula is a well balanced blend of heritage apples. The acidic foundation of Norther Spy…crisp, sweet, tart flavor & mouthfeel of Empire…& floral nose of Golden Delicious are the origins of the blend. Our blend then ferments with native yeast and is lightly filtered. The finish has a natural and mildly carbonated complexion.

Nearly touching the 45th parallel, Old Mission Peninsula’s expanse of agricultural land is mostly populated with fruit farms, leaving just enough room for those that love and care for it. The farms are mostly old and some new. The rolling hills surrounded by the freshwater bays of Lake Michigan are a unique climate for the orchard and vineyard. The value shows in the bounty of fruit and lovely things made with it.

About the orchards…
160 contiguous acres on the Old Mission Peninsula, situated in the Grand Traverse Bay. Historic Johnson Farm. Oldest and largest on the peninsula. He leases use of orchards. Property also bears cherries, grapes. Charlie has his own cidery. Types of apples: Spy, Golden Delicious, Romes, Jonathans, Wayne, Golden Russets: 3-4 blends. Single Varietal Fermentations: these are special because of the limited amount of fruit.
