Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 vintage of this treasure of a wine contains 14% Petit Verdot! A deep ruby-red, this lovely wine opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe blackcurrant, blueberry and subtle baking spices, interwoven with a whisper of vanilla and old world structure. On the palate: medium-to-full-bodied, showcasing juicy dark fruit flavors balanced by refined tannins, gentle acidity and a lingering finish; a hallmark of classic Cabernet Sauvignon from the Western Cape. Charming structure makes for an excellent partner with rich, savory dishes; try pairing it with grilled or roasted lamb chops, braised short ribs, or a char-grilled ribeye with herb butter. The wine’s sturdy tannic backbone also stands up beautifully to dishes with earthy components like wild mushroom risotto or aged hard cheeses.

As one of South Africa’s iconic winemakers, Ntsiki Biyela has forged a path to become a highly respected and widely admired name in the world of wine.

In 2016, she established Aslina Wines, inspired by the strength and determination of the biggest influence in her life, her grandmother.

Hailing from the rolling hills of Zululand, Ntsiki Biyela embarked on a life-changing journey to the Cape Winelands. It was here that she discovered her talent and passion for creating captivating wines. Out of her dream comes a brand that pays tribute to her great inspiration, her much-loved grandmother, Aslina.

The Aslina branding strongly echoes Ntsiki’s Zulu culture and heritage and the label features the calabash, a traditional clay drinking vessel. Although used typically for beer, Ntsiki has added her own unique twist by adding grapes to the calabash, transforming it into a container for her distinctive wines.
