Sunday Night Supper: A Study of Slope
Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

Aromatic and green-leaning, fresh herbs, cut grass, and citrus zest lead, with underlying roasted agave and light smoke. The palate is dry and structured, showing earthy minerality, subtle tropical fruit, and a bittersweet edge (cacao nib, light coffee) typical of Barril, alongside the richer, slightly sweeter concentration from capón harvesting. Texture is lean but layered, finishing long, savory, and herbal, with lingering spice and a touch of saline/umami.
