This wine is made from 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. We would pair this with lamb burgers. Displaying notes of peony, violet and raspberry, its nose is vibrant and full of promise. The palate is long and powerful, with both floral and fruity notes such as wild strawberry and cherry and grippy, well-integrated tannins. It is the estate's second wine, and a fresher juicier expression than its peer.

Details

From our supplier: Created in the 15th century, Pez is the oldest domaine in Saint Estèphe. The Pontac family, who also created Haut-Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The domaine was sold as a property of the state after the French Revolution and owned by a succession of families before it was purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer in 1995.

Located west of the town of Saint-Estèphe, Château de Pez consists of 74 continuous acres, with 59 acres planted to prime grape varieties, mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
