This wine is made of 100% Chardonnay, sourced from the "Les Houilleres" lieu dit on the Puligny side of the vineyard. This wine is a stone's throw away from those of the "Les Ensigneres" Premier Cru of Puligny-Montrachet, and brings incredible value in a region with high price tags. We would pair this with grilled lobster and asparagus with a yogurt sauce.

From DB Fine Wines: It was the 4th Duke of Magenta, Phillipe Mac Mahon, that brought notoriety to the Duc de Magenta Estate. Phillipe produced an incredible vintage of their 1er Cru Bottling “Clos de Garrene” that brought the label and the vineyard worldwide recognition. The Clos de Garenne Vineyard run adjacent to Les Folatieres, and a good portion of the fruit is purchased by Louis Jadot for their “Domaine Duc de Magenta Clos de Garrene bottling. It’s important to note that the 2018 vintage of Louis Jadot Domaine Duc de Magenta Clos de la Garenne is selling for nearly $200 a bottle and received huge press from major publications.

Today, the estate is Run by Amelie Mac Mahon the “Dutchess of Magenta”. Amelie lives in the Chateau de Sully and she takes care of a very small production while her children Pelagie and Maurice “the Duc” are waiting to take over the Estate.

The estate produces a “Bourgonge Blanc” that is simply off the charts for a very reasonable price. 100% of the fruit is sourced from the Les Houillers vineyard a Lieu Dit (named vineyard) from the Puligny side of the vineyard. Les Houilleres is just a stone’s throw away from one of our favorite 1er crus in Puligny “Les Ensigneres”. Wines out of Les Enseigneres will start around $150 a bottle. Domaine Leroy’s Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres will run you 5 figures!!!!
