Bright red, unfiltered, unfined red wine with a persistent juicy finish, this one take a light chill and plays well with almost any weeknight dinner. A favorite? Domaine Les Terres Promises, which translates to "the promised lands," sits high up on the eastern side of Mount Sainte Baume in the Coteaux Varois appellation in Provence. Jean-Christophe Comor, the leader of this Domaine, made the somewhat unlikely transition from successful but disillusioned French politician to iconoclast Provencal winemaker. He is now revered for his powerful and textural roses but this is the wine I most eagerly anticipate each year. ‘A Ma Guise’ is the first wine made each year at the Domaine from the first pass through in the vineyards of the earliest ripening fruit. In most years every grape grown here finds its way into this blend (up to 18 varietals of white, gris, rose, and red grapes) and the result is a profoundly delicious and drinkable wine that combines the purity of fruit found in great Beaujolais with the texture and garrigue you'd expect from a wine from the South of France. - Adam Bitker, Ungrafted Selections
