Sunday Night Supper: A Study of Slope
Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. An inviting bouquet of ripe blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry, layered with notes of cedar, cocoa, vanilla, and subtle baking spice from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is rich and concentrated, offering generous dark fruit flavors framed by supple tannins and vibrant acidity. Hints of espresso, graphite, and toasted oak add complexity and depth, leading to a long, polished finish with excellent balance and structure. This approachable yet age-worthy Napa Valley Cabernet pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye steak, braised short ribs, or rosemary-crusted lamb chops.
