Sunday Night Supper: A Study of Slope
Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

100% Nebbiolo from old vines in the Trinità cru of Roero, rich in sandy clay and shelly soils. Once an ocean floor Trinità provides a freshness and softness to the wines that is absolutely beautiful. The wine is perfumed and floral with light berry flavors and great acidity. Fermentation takes place over 4 weeks in stainles steel before aging for 24 months in French oak casks. The wine finally rests in bottle for a year before release. 2009 was a quality vintage for Nebbiolo, as the grapes ripened very slowly until the end of the growing season. The wine is immediate with fresh fruit and aromatics and will present more lifted throughout drinking. Pair it with grilled lamb patties with pistachios and sumac lemon yogurt.
