This wine is made of 70% Frappato and 30% Nero d'Avola. With a light chill in the Summer heat, pair this juicy wine with grilled swordwish and eggplant caponata. 'SP68' is the name of the road that crosses through Arianna Occhipinti's original vineyard in Vittoria, and is a special name for her "flipped" version of wine from the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOC. Occhipinti switched the percentages of grapes that are normally required in the DOC, and has created a flavorful young wine, bursting with tart red berry flavors and a savory earthiness.

At The Wise Old Dog, we have proudly championed the wines of Arianna Occhipinti for many years. Long before Sicily became one of the world's most exciting wine regions, Arianna was helping to redefine what Sicilian wine could be through her unwavering commitment to place, tradition, and thoughtful farming.

Raised in Vittoria in southeastern Sicily, Arianna returned home after studying viticulture and enology to work with the region's native varieties and historic vineyard sites. Starting with just a single hectare of vines, she quickly gained international recognition for wines that capture the beauty and individuality of Sicily's landscape.

Today, Arianna is regarded as one of Italy's most influential growers. Her vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically, and her approach in the cellar is guided by restraint and respect for the vineyard. The result is a collection of wines that are vibrant, soulful, and unmistakably Sicilian.

From her beloved Frappato and Nero d'Avola bottlings to the distinctive Contrada wines, Arianna's work continues to inspire us and remains a cornerstone of our Cellars (and Tables when we have the chance to drink a bottle!).
