This wine is 100% Nebbiolo from the commune of Barbaresco. Classically styled, gentler than its sibling Barolo's but still built out with plenty of acid and tannins. An astounding wine with cherry, rose petals, zippy wild strawberry and some baking spices. This wine will reward those who cellar or decant it. Grill up a T-bone steak or pig cheek ragu.

Details

The Roncaglie cru has historically been regarded as one of the best vineyards in Barbaresco, though rarely bottled on its own until Poderi Colla arrived in 1995. The entire cru spans 12 hectares and is situated in the southern part of Barbaresco. Colla's parcel spans 5.3 hectares. The name Roncaglia comes from the Latin word "Roncaleis" meaning "steep road", a nod to the rather drastic landscape compared to the rolling hills of the Langhe. The grapes are macerated for 2-3 weeks then aged for one year in botti and 1-2 years in bottle before release.
