Details

From the Winery: Preston Farm and Winery is a family-operated, organic property in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Valley. Our 125 acres are nestled between a meandering salmon-spawning stream and a sleepy stretch of former wagon trail leading to town. Under 45 years of stewardship by our family, the land has evolved from an emphasis on wine alone to diversified crops including vineyards, vegetables, fruit and olive trees, grain, and pastured livestock.

Our estate winery features a tasting room and farm store. Estate-pressed olive oil, whole grain sourdough loaves, pickles, and produce from the farm are seasonally available for purchase along with the wines.

Cinsaut exudes charm at every stage of the winegrowing process. In the vineyard its prized by workers as a tasty snack on a hot day in the field, then, during the alchemy of fermentation, its tanks suffuse the winery with a bake-shop, cherry-pie headiness. Finally, in your bottle its a low-ish alcohol, exuberantly medium-bodied vin de soif that brings delight and camaraderie to drinkers on all sides of the vino-political spectrum no matter what their typical flavor. These days, we ferment and age it in the simplest ways possible to lets its inherent virtues shine through: a 100% whole-cluster fermentation is pressed off after a short maceration to neutral oak puncheons (think barrels, but twice as big), and bottled -- often without filtration -- sometime between 12-18 months later. The 2022 shows provencal herb-accented berry fruits and delicate hints of violet on the nose, and in its youth continues to gain complexity and bouquet over a few days of being open. Redcurrant and brambly berry flavors emerge in the mouth, followed up by a clean finish that impresses with layered, smooth-grained tannin. Enjoy it with friends anytime over the next 5 years. Grapes are certified organic
