Sunday Night Supper: A Study of Slope
Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese from Ballard Canyon in Santa Barbara. It is vinified as whole cluster, with carbonic fermentation, and aged in a combination of stainless steel and barrel for 3 months. An American vin de soif, it is so chillable, crushable, and drinkable wherever you may find yourself. The wine still holds on to those classic Sangiovese rustic tannins, and is just as serious as it is easy-drinking. The perfect wine for an early spring, or late summer evening barbecue of burgers, sausages, nightshade vegetables, and gourmet pasta salads.
