Details

From our Importer: Possibly the hottest newer producer in Piedmont. A partnership formed in 2007 between two members of the Oberto family and Vladimiro Rambaldi. The Oberto’s owned small parcels in “Rocche” and “Torriglione” in La Morra. A portion of the “Berri” vineyard, also in La Morra, was acquired shortly after the partnership was formed. The Baroli are traditionally crafted with long fermentations followed by at least 24 months of aging in large Slavonian botti.

Vinification of grapes coming from our La Morra vineyards. Alcoholic fermentation happens in concrete and lasts around 12-14 days, followed by a 4-5 day post-fermentative maceration. Total skin-juice contact is around 3 weeks. Then malolactic takes place in concrete and steel and the wine ages for around 20 months in 52-hl and 25-hl oak barrels crafted by Garbellotto. After aging, the wine rests for some months in concrete, steel and plastic, before being bottled, usually in July-August of the year before the release.

2018 was a challenging vintage for Trediberri. The wines resulting from our various vineyards couldn’t be more different. The best parcels were particularly serious and profound (as such important vineyards should be almost every year), whereas Berri provided a pretty wine, but missing the depth we were looking from a Barolo. Blending all the wines was a ray of light and the result is a Barolo that we like a lot. Pure nose of fruit, soft and light mid-palate, lingering deep finish. Iron fist in a velvet glove. Due to its inner freshness, it will surely last for decades, but it so good now that I don’t know if someone can resist. Perfect with pad-thai, hot pot, fish soup, mid-aged cheese, raclette.

From the Winery: Our first wine was released in 2011 and today we vinify wine from 10,5 ha (26 acres) of vineyards: in addition to the original 5 ha (12 acres) in the Berri Cru, we also own 2,8 ha (7 acres) in the Crus of Rocche dell’Annunziata and Torriglione – where we grow Barolo, Barbera and Sauvignon Blanc – and we are currently renting 3 ha (7,5 acres) of Dolcetto and Nebbiolo in Vicoforte, within the most southern village of Langhe Region, at the feet of the Alps. From 2012 until 2017 included, we had the privilege to cultivate another hectare of Nebbiolo for Barolo in the Capalot Cru, in La Morra. Unluckily, from 2018 that contract hasn’t been renewed. We are a young, artisanal family winery. We have no ancestral coat of arms depicting rampant horses and fluttering ensigns. We have no history and that is fine by us: we like talking about the present, through our wines.
