Bright and bold Carmel Valley Cabernet. 1400 of elevation gives this wine an acid that reaches for the heavens, mellowed by the ripeness of the berries that've been shielded from the cold oceanic winds. The fruit is ripe and concentrated with notes of red plum, black cherry, baking spice, and a touch of leather. Pair this with a Moroccan beef tagine or your best-prepared steak.

This mountainous Carmel Valley cabernet block sits at 1400' elevation on a granitic hillside 15.42 miles to the ocean. The chilly Monterey Bay gives structure in the wine's elegance, however, the near by sheer coastal mountain peaks protect the site from the cold ocean born winds, trapping the heat and allows Cabernet to ripen and develop into fine wines that are generous yet lifted, rich in pleasure yet savory. The "nose" of this Cabernet transports you to another place or time, maybe it's Bordeaux, but once on palate there is no denying California sunshine.
