This 100% Riesling is made from 120 year-old ungifted vines, vinified for a year on its lees. Bone dry, intensely structured, and showcasing wild aromatics of smoke, menthol, bruised pear, and tropical fruit. This is an incredible example of what riesling can be. It is intense on the palate, but finishes just as gracefully as any low-ABV kabinett. Pair this with dry-rubbed pork cutlets, seared mushrooms, and miso-glazed sweet potato.

The first of a trio of Grand Cru wines, including Aurum and Schimbock, is the Goldgrube Trocken. From 120-year-old vines trained on single poles and aged for over a year on the full yeasts in fuder. There is structure, of course, from the old vines and long élevage, but also a beautiful drinkability and lightness.

Absolutely psychotic in 2023, this is so pure, harmonious and even succulent. Alongside the power and herbal tones, there is always a distinctive white flower note in the wines from Goldgrube that contributes to the freshness. A masterpiece amongst Mosel dry wines.
