The 20th Anniversary release of Vino di Contrada sees all three vineyards from the series blended to create one cuvée: Frappato from the BB (Bombolier with red, stony soils rich in white clay), FL (Fossa di the highest of elevations planted to fine sand) and PT (Pettineo the oldest vines in Vittoria (60+ years) planted on orange sand and limestone).

The Cuvée 20 is a vibrant and soulful expression of Frappato, created to celebrate the estate's twentieth harvest by blending fruit from all three of Occhipinti's celebrated contrade. Delicate aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, rose petals, and violet are layered with hints of Mediterranean herbs, black tea, and a subtle saline minerality. The palate is remarkably fresh and energetic with silky tannins, bright acidity, and a graceful texture that carries flavors of red berries, blood orange, and savory spice through a long, mineral driven finish. Elegant yet deeply expressive, this wine captures the purity, finesse, and unmistakable sense of place that define southeastern Sicily. Pair with grilled swordfish, pasta alla Norma, or herb roasted pork tenderloin for a memorable match.

Since founding her estate in Vittoria in 2004, Arianna Occhipinti has become one of Sicily’s most influential voices, helping to redefine the region through a commitment to organic farming, native varieties, and a deep focus on terroir. While her wines first gained acclaim for their transparency and elegance, her work has increasingly centered on exploring the nuances of Frappato through individual contrade, historic vineyard sites that reveal distinct expressions of the grape. Inspired by the great vineyard traditions of Burgundy and Barolo, Occhipinti’s Vini di Contrada project focuses on three neighboring but geologically distinct sites: Bombolieri (BB), Pettineo (PT), and Fossa di Lupo (FL). Each vineyard is farmed and vinified in the same way, allowing differences in soil, exposure, and microclimate to speak clearly. Together, these wines offer a compelling study of place, ranging from the mineral precision and energy of Bombolieri, to the fragrant fruit and graceful texture of Pettineo, to the earthy depth and structure of Fossa di Lupo. The result is a vivid portrait of Frappato and a testament to the remarkable diversity that exists within this small corner of southeastern Sicily.
