Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

This wine is made of 100% Chardonnay sourced from organic vineyards. It is a poised and expressive white Burgundy that captures the tension and finesse of this esteemed premier cru. Pale gold in the glass with a subtle green tint, it opens with refined aromatics of lemon zest, white peach, and green apple, interwoven with notes of crushed stone, acacia blossom, and a delicate touch of toasted hazelnut. On the palate, the wine is both crystalline and textured, offering a striking balance between vibrant acidity and a gentle, almost creamy mid-palate weight. There is a distinct mineral core—chalky and precise—that lends definition and drive through a long, saline finish. While already showing remarkable clarity and charm in its youth, this wine promises to gain further complexity and depth with cellaring, revealing the full potential of its terroir-driven elegance.
