100% Pelaverga. Light ruby with a clear and bright hue. The nose is vibrant and aromatic, showcasing a bouquet of red berries, strawberries, and pomegranate. Light-bodied yet flavorful, the wine bursts with juicy acidity and a distinctive peppery spice that enhances the bright fruit flavors of raspberry and cherry. Fratelli Alessandria's Pelaverga "Speziale" is a charming expression of a rare Piedmontese varietal, with less than 15 hectares of vines planted entirely. The wine offers a unique and refreshing perspective on Piedmontese winemaking, and would pair nicely with savory cured meats or sausage over polenta.

From the Winery: After 15 years of DOC status, we decided to “call it by its name”, starting with the 2011 vintage, to show how special it is to us. This unique wine is produced almost exclusively in the municipality of Verduno, from the rare native grape variety Pelaverga Piccolo. You can tell that it is special by its colour, but what is particularly captivating is its unmistakable spicy scent, especially of pepper, hence Speziale (spezia being the Italian word for spice).
