Collection: Sicily

An island off the southeastern coast of Italy, Sicily grows grapes in large quantities for IGT Terre di Sicilia. Lower yields are included in the more desirable designation of Sicilia DOC. The sea breeze access is monumental is cooling the vineyards in the hot, dry climate inland and the humidity along the coast. Nero d'Avola is the most prominent red grape, producing medium to full bodied wines with medium acid and tannin. It can be made quite light and fruit-forward, for early drinking, or darker, resulting in a very concentrated and complex wine. In recent years, Etna has become a popular wine destination for travelers where there are older, lower-yield grapes at higher altitude coming from volcanic soil. The area is renowned for red wines made from Nerello Mascalese, and a variety of indigenous white grapes that offer high acid with notes citrus and stone fruit with a distinct steel characteristic.
