This is Montevertine's flagship wine, made from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. The wine is aged in large Slavonian oak, and comes from grapes planted on a small 2.5 hectare parcel facing south, soaking up plenty of sunlight, and developing wonderful ripe fruit. The Montevertine estate is located just south of Radda in the heart of Chianti Classico. It was once a rural fortress built for the days when mercenaries and crusaders roamed the Tuscan hills, in search of homes to pillage. The estate was revived in 1967, and since has become the wonder it is today.
