Sunday Night Supper: A Study of Slope
Jacky Blot (RIP 2023) is one of the truly great producers of Loire Valley red wine. Here, a deep(er) dive with a delicious conclusion.

This wine is made of 100% Chardonnay. The wine is racy and mineral, and as 'Vent d'Ange' literally translates, it is the "wind of the angel." This wine is sharp and fragrant with a juicy, lingering, finish and perfect with Moules Frites. Thomas Pico has converted the domaine to organic farming, which is difficult in such an inhospitable growing climate. Everything is harvested by hand, and there is a strict focus on quality in yield control. Around 40% of the juice is fermented in concrete eggs, with the rest done in stainless steel. Thomas Pico's wines are some of the most charming and intriguing coming out of Chablis today, and a real treat for all wine lovers.
