Patrick Bottex Bugey-Cerdon, 2024

Patrick Bottex Bugey-Cerdon, 2024

Regular price $24.00

90% Gamay, 10% Poulsard. A vibrant, lightly sparkling rosé made by the méthode ancestrale, bursting with wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, and rose petal, with a gentle sweetness balanced by bright, refreshing acidity and a delicate, creamy mousse. Light-bodied and only around 8% alcohol, it finishes juicy, crisp, and wonderfully thirst-quenching. Serve well chilled as an aperitif or alongside spicy Thai or Vietnamese dishes, charcuterie and soft cheeses, or strawberry and raspberry desserts; the touch of sweetness makes it particularly effective with dishes carrying a little heat.

Details

Patrick Bottex is one of the most respected names in Bugey-Cerdon, a small alpine appellation in eastern France, where his family has farmed vines for generations. Working from vineyards around the village of Montagnieu, Bottex focuses on traditional, low-intervention wines, most famously his Bugey-Cerdon “La Cueille,” a naturally sparkling rosé made by the méthode ancestrale. The 2024 is a blend of Gamay and Poulsard, fermented to retain a touch of natural sweetness and bottled with gentle effervescence. It is prized for its vivid red-fruit character, low alcohol, freshness, and playful, vinous charm—an iconic example of Bugey’s distinctive alpine style.
