Tenuta La Piccola Nero di Cio Lambrusco dell'Emilia IGT Frizzante, 2024

Tenuta La Piccola Nero di Cio Lambrusco dell'Emilia IGT Frizzante, 2024

Regular price $26.00

A lovely blend of three indigeneous varietals: Malbo Gentile, Lambrusco Salamino, and Lambrusco Maestri. This lightly sparkling Lambrusco is juicy, lively, and just plain fun to drink. Bright blackberry, ripe cherry, and wild plum lead the way, with hints of violet, cracked pepper, and a touch of earth underneath. The gentle fizz keeps everything fresh, while soft tannins and vibrant acidity make it incredibly easy to enjoy. Serve it with pizza, burgers, barbecue, or a spread of cured meats and aged cheeses. It's also a great match for rich pasta dishes like lasagna or tagliatelle with ragù, where the bubbles and acidity cut through the richness beautifully.

Details

From our Importer: According to Bon Vivant Imports, Tenuta La Piccola has been farming the rolling hills of Montecchio Emilia since 1967, combining generations of tradition with a thoughtful, sustainable approach to viticulture. Today the estate is run by Giuseppe Fontana, who is involved in every step of the process, from hand harvesting to the cellar. The vineyards are certified organic, and the winery works closely with local universities to continually improve its farming practices. Their focus is on making expressive Lambrusco that reflects the character of Emilia rather than chasing heavy extraction or excessive sweetness.

Nero di Cio was the very first wine produced by the estate and is named in honor of founder Licinio Fontana, whose nickname was "Cio." His portrait, painted by family friend and artist Lino Frongia, still appears on the label today. The wine itself is a blend of Malbo Gentile, Lambrusco Maestri, and Lambrusco Salamino from estate vineyards, fermented in stainless steel and bottled young to capture its bright fruit, lively sparkle, and fresh, food-friendly character.
