Alsace
Alsace has a rich history, dazzling architecture, and exceptional wine. Found in Northeast France and sheltered by the natural barrier of the Vosges Mountains, the region produces remarkable wine known for their aromatic, spicy, and floral qualities. The cold climate and mountainous terrain produce wines that are lively and high acid, which offer a refreshing contrast to the often rich, cozy Alsatian , stews, and cheeses. (Or, contrarily), a full flavored Gewurtztraminer to pair with the sauerkraut in your choucroute garnie.)
Though the majority of the wine produced here is white, we love Alsace for its incredibly diverse winemaking methods: from still to sparkling, bone dry to full-bodied and decadent, you’ll find something delicious for any occasion and every meal. The varietals you’re most likely to find here are Gewurtztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Sylvaner.
